Sick Babies

So the sick bug kicked the girls pretty hard this year. Zoe had what the doctors think was strep/ear infection and Fiona was in the hospital for two days with a virus. Sick kids never are a nice thing, but it is so much harder when it is your own babies that are the ones who are sick! Both girls handled thier illness like a champ though. Fiona was the most heartbreaking with her IV laying in this pathetic cage they call a hospital crib (the pic doesn't do it justice - it looked way worse in real life!). I am so thankful that my girls aren't plagued with illness and my heart goes out to parents whose children are!
*Disclaimer: The top picture was taken before we knew how sick Zoe really was-otherwise we wouldn't have had them so close together!;)...

Happy Bday Momma

Let's just say that being 35 feels a lot older than being 34 for some reason. But I had a nice birthday with my family- had a yummy lunch, ice cream cupcakes, and kite flying on the beach. Even saw dolphins and that totally made my day! Zoe was cute and got really excited about giving me my present and ran to get it in it's hiding place as soon as I woke up! I think 35 is going to be a good year:)

Sing me a song

Daddy sings to Fiona and she loves it. She just lays there and listens to his ballads...I must admit I like it too;)

Play Date #2

We hosted our second playdate last week. (The first one was probably a year ago!) I think I can handle it now, so I'll be happy to do more from here on out. It was fun - I got to get out a little of the preschool teacher in me and planned an art project of making wearable butterfly wings for the kids. Moms were chatting, kids were playing - no one had a melt down or major injury- overall a very successful playdate!

Fit For Fun

We went to a children's indoor play place today with a friend that has kid's the same age. Moms got to chat, babies got to look around, and little girls had fun playing dress up, painting, water table playing, and hanging out! Yay for friends!

"Best Friends"

The other day, when we sat Fiona next to Zoe, Zoe put her arm around her and said, "Best Friends!" How sweet is that??!!! And often, when Zoe leans in to Fiona for a kiss, I will hear her whisper, "So cute", also!

Almost 4 months old!

Fiona is really becoming a "real baby" now and not an infant any more. There is a big difference and I can see it more and more every day. She can sit up almost on her own, looks for people, recognizes voices, likes to be around us, and is getting her own sense of humor. I love watching a new person develop! It's cool - I wish so many of you weren't missing it....

Family Outings

We went to a neighbor's kid's birthday party last weekend as a family and it was fun. Zoe got to dance and be serenaded by the birthday boy, Daddy and I got to chat with friends, and Fiona witnessed her first disco ball. I love it when we can all do something together as a family- it makes me so happy!

Sprout

Another fun thing about having girls is you can do their hair in a million different ways. I couldn't believe she kept it in all day! Of course the next day, when I tried again , she cried like I was murdering her:)...

My Theory on Population Control

This is my theory on how many children one should have - As many as you can carry out of a burning building. Right now that means two for me. Same as the number of children I can hold and still take a picture of all of us at once:)

Tea Party

Zoe got a tea set from Gramma and Papa for her birthday and she loves it. She has asked me to play tea party at least 6 times today alone! We had mislpaced the tea pot and she kept asking,"Momma where is "fffsshhht?". I had no idea what she was talking about until she found the tea pot and said, "there's the "fffsshhht", and proceded to 'pour' tea into a cup saying, "fffssshhhht" as she did! She sets the table, pours the tea, stirs in the sugar, and hands out the pretend cookies. It is the first time she really got into a whole pretend scenario this detailed. She got lots of pretend things for her birthday so now play is going to be really fun for me, cuz I love this stuff!

Happy 2nd Birthday Zoe!

We had Zoe's second birthday party at home this year, and it was fun. She actually is begining to have "friends" at this age, so she wanted certain people to come this time. Since she's not in preschool, her friends are limited to neighbors and some kids from my Mom's group, but they still count! I had fun picking out the party favors - I try really hard to get things the kids will actually use (they all got animal visors, sunglasses and instruments). Zoe was slightly overwhelmed, but we all ate a lot, played a lot, and chatted a lot! Keith and I are very thankful to those of you who helped make Zoe's birthday special, especially those of you who came to the party or called to wish her a happy day! As you can see from the photo below, one of those special people ( Ian ) even gave her flowers (a man after my own heart!)! Zoe definitely is starting to notice who cares for her and who she cares for right back...so sweet!
